On the morning of November 21st, 2023, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam, held a meeting with Climate Fund Manager, led by Deputy Consul General of the Netherlands, Ms. Eline van der Veen, and CA Water regarding the investment project to build a freshwater reservoir and a clean water treatment plant in Can Giuoc District.
During the meeting, the representative of CFM provided an overview of the organization and its ongoing projects in Vietnam, while outlining several specific requirements for the freshwater reservoir and clean water treatment plant project in Can Giuoc District, including details on investment costs, levels of support, and the implementation process.

The representative of CA Water emphasized the urgency of investing in the water treatment plant to ensure a stable water supply for local residents.
In addition, Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh Lam affirmed the critical importance and urgency of the freshwater reservoir and water treatment plant project in Can Giuoc District, especially in light of the region’s challenges with saltwater intrusion, climate change, and the scarcity of clean water. To ensure successful cooperation between the province, CA Water, and CFM, the provincial government assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to serve as the coordinating body. They will work closely with related units to guide investors through the necessary procedures, particularly the legal aspects, to bring the project to fruition.
The Vice Chairman also expressed his hope that the visiting delegation would continue to focus on climate change issues in Long An, particularly in addressing erosion and wastewater treatment in the future.
